Deaths and injuries are direct and indirect together, as the offices filed them. Damage is property and crops in the dollars of the year, not adjusted for inflation, and only where an office estimated it.
A powerful low-pressure system brought damaging high winds, blizzard conditions, and areas of blowing dust from April 12th to April 14th. The prolonged period of high winds caused sporadic tree and shingle damage to roofs. In addition, the combination of ongoing drought conditions and the high winds caused blowing dust in south-central South Dakota. The Hand County Sheriff reported significantly reduced visibility due to blowing dust on the 14th. Some of the highest wind gusts include 73 mph 11 miles south of Bullhead, 72 mph in Tunerville, 71 mph 6 SSW of Peever, and 67 mph 2 miles north of the Pierre Airport and 10 miles SW of Long Lake.
