Another crossing low pressure trough will generate rain and snow
for the Upper Ohio Valley Region tonight and Wednesday.

.NEAR TERM /THROUGH TODAY/...
Biggest change for the evening update was to issue a winter
weather advisory for eastern Tucker county overnight through
Wednesday morning for 2 to 4 inches of snow. Rest of the
forecast in good shape.

Another shortwave trough is expected to emerge from the
Mississippi River Valley and move toward the Mid Atlantic Region
late tonight/early on Wednesday morning. Warm advection with
advance of that system will support a mix of rain and snow
across the Ohio River Valley.
Based on the NBM probabilistic snow accumulation for the time
period of 12 to 24 hours, this event shows that the entire
region (with the exception of eastern Tucker County) will stay
below Winter Weather Advisory criteria. Eastern Tucker could see
3-4 inches of snow due to a combination of orographic lift
under southeast flow and strong ascension from the right
entrance region of the upper-level jet.
Elsewhere, with warm advection and an advancing dry slot
crossing through southeastern Ohio by late Wednesday morning,
snow totals will likely stay low. A trace to two inches of snow
is likely north of Pittsburgh by early Wednesday afternoon.

Quiet, dry conditions are anticipated for Thursday with
building high pressure and warm advection; models are trending
that temperatures will be a few degrees above the climatological
average.
Warm conditions should continue into Friday with a building
ridge over the East Coast.

Ensemble models highlight Saturday as potential winter weather
impact day as a upper-level trough develops north of the Dakotas
and intensifies over the Great Lakes. However, it is still too
early to go into great detail on the overall snowfall totals
across the region.

VFR deterioration will commence in the predawn hours as a
shortwave trough digs toward the Mid Atlantic Region and shunts
warmth and moisture into the cold airmass ovr the area. Expect

persist into the afternoon.

Many reports of two to four inches of snow were received. The highest report was 4.8 inches recorded at Acmetonia.
Two to four inches of snow accumulated, with the highest reports of 4 inches at Dayton and 3.5 inches at Kittanning.
A report of 2.3 inches was received from Economy, and two inches fell near Aliquippa and New Sheffield.
Two to three inches of snow fell in the county. Valencia and Sarver reported the higher totals.
A report of 4.8 inches was received from 7 miles northeast of Strattanville. A few other reports between 2 and 3 inches were recorded.
A total of 2.7 inches of snow fell near Marienville, while 2 inches was recorded 7 miles SSE of Tionesta.
Summerville and Big Run both got 3 inches of snow, while South Timblin received 2 inches.
Two inches of snow fell at Oil City, with less elsewhere in the county.
