What happened

The episode as NWS ABQ wrote it up.

As a strong area of high pressure built over New Mexico on June 11, 2022, it led to soaring daytime temperatures. High temperatures during the afternoon reached well into the triple digits with some of the hottest temperatures experienced so far this year. Tucumcari reached a high temperature of 112 degrees Fahrenheit which actually set a new all time high temperature record which was previously 110 degrees Fahrenheit in 2020. Despite this high pressure system's presence, not all of the moisture was scoured out. Enough mid-level moisture was present to allow for isolated dry shower and thunderstorm activity. With very dry conditions in the low-levels, however, this activity produced very strong downburst winds. Las Vegas recorded a 59 mph wind gust with this dry activity.
