Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Glasgow MT 809 PM MST Sat Jan 8 2022 .DISCUSSION... An area of flurries are exiting the southern and SE zones this evening. More flurries are possible Sunday and Sunday Night but placement and timing are unknown at this time. TFJ Prevous Discussion... Another round of Arctic air has moved into Northeast Montana. Skies will be mostly clear tonight and this will lead to temperatures dropping into the mid-teens and 20s below zero along and north of the Hi-line and the single digits to low-teens below zero south. A Wind Chill Advisory is in effect for almost all of Northeast Montana through early Sunday afternoon. Only the Little Rockies and Petroleum County will have wind chills above 20 below zero. Sheridan County will be around 40 below zero for a time overnight, so have issued a Wind Chill Warning for that area. Cold air will remain trapped across much of the area Sunday afternoon with highs largely in the single digits north of a line from southwest Phillips County to just south of Sidney. Temperatures will be much warmer south of this line with highs in the 20s and maybe even some 30s in Petroleum County. As a large ridge builds across the Western US next week, temperatures will moderate rapidly across Northeast Montana. It may still take an extra day or two to scour out the cold air from the Milk River Valley, but temperatures largely in the 30s are expected by the middle of the week. Highs in the 40s are likely south of the Missouri River. A shortwave pushes through the ridge on Tuesday, with little impact other than potentially assisting in mixing out any lingering arctic air over the northeast corner of the state. Another cold front looks to arrive Thursday night and this may bring another chance of snow showers to the region. -Mottice && .AVIATION...
