Temperatures are one of the biggest challenges this evening as warm air advection and thick clouds should keep them from falling tonight. Temps will struggle tomorrow as a cold front drops in during the morning. Just made slight adjustments to temps and winds through Thursday morning while the rest of the forecast looked good. TFJ Previous Discussion... A high pressure ridge is currently in place, and mainly high clouds are over the region. Wednesday night into Thursday: The shallow ridge will move off to the east by Thursday afternoon as a trough makes its way into northeast Montana. Slightly warmer temperatures are expected on Thursday. Thursday night: Snowfall will begin east of the divide early Thursday night and spread eastward later in the night. The ensemble models are coming into agreement with snow amounts by suggesting an overall range of 2 to 4 inches across most of the area. Winter weather advisories have been issued everywhere except for the southeastern counties because snow amounts are slightly below advisory criteria in those locations. Friday and Friday night: Snowfall will likely linger in the eastern counties until early afternoon. To start December, ongoing drought conditions in all but the eastern edge of Western Roosevelt County was in (D3-Extreme) drought, while the eastern edge was in (D2-Severe) conditions. These conditions would remain the same through the end of the month.
