Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Glasgow MT 221 PM MDT Fri Aug 12 2022 .DISCUSSION... The hot and dry pattern looks to continue through the period. The upper ridge that reintroduced the heat to the area today has a disturbance triggering thunderstorms over the Pacific NW east into central Montana. However, it looks like much of the area will not get much rainfall as poor timing and inadequate instability and moisture will occur under this intense ridge. Storms that do fire up over central Montana late this afternoon and evening may trigger some strong winds that could briefly meet severe wind criteria (58 mph) in a few places, as they will be high-based storms. The storms rumble mainly across the northern zones tonight then re-energize late tomorrow with deeper moisture closer to the North Dakota border, before the push off to the east. Fire weather concerns do arise a bit on Sunday as northwest winds come up a bit with Min RH in the teens in many areas. In fact, conditions through the end of next week look to be marginal in terms of low humidity and brief gusty winds. TFJ && .AVIATION...
