Moderate snow and poor road conditions contributed to a fatal two-vehicle crash near McMillan in Lakefield Township on the morning of the 18th. At 9:50 am MSP troopers responded to a two-vehicle crash near the intersection of Highway M-28 and County Road 444 in Lakefield Township. A 19-year-old man from Newberry was driving east on M-28 when his Ford F-250 truck crossed the center line and collided with a Chrysler minivan driven by a 64-year-old woman from Newberry. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. The man was taken to Helen Newberry Joy Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries and released. The MSP was assisted at the scene of the accident by the MDNR, Columbus Fire Department, the Luce County Sheriff's office and Luce County EMS.
