Steep lapse rates and instability with the cold pool aloft...along with gusty winds from a tight pressure gradient...helped support the development of snow squalls during the afternoon. Localized snow squalls accompanied the upper trof during the afternoon. The snow squalls produced wind gusts up to around 40 mph along with brief heavy snow which reduced visibility below a quarter mile at times.
