The drought status remained unchanged through October for Northwest Kansas. The worst of the drought continued to be along and east of Highway 27 where a large area of D3 Extreme Drought was present. Rawlins and Decatur counties continued in the D4 Exceptional Drought category. Precipitation ranged from a hundredth of an inch to one and a half inches. This was as much as two inches below normal.
