.SYNOPSIS...
Expect slightly warmer temperatures for Sunday with a gradual
warming trend continuing into next week. Those temperatures will
become hot by the middle of next week with triple digit
values anticipated by Wednesday and Thursday. The ridge may begin
to weaken by Friday into the weekend resulting in subtle cooling.

.DISCUSSION...

Tonight through Monday night: The upper level low pressure system
that has resided offshore has pushed into British Columbia as an
open wave. A weak cold front accompanied the passage of this
trough with cooler temperatures near seasonal average has taken
hold with 80 degree weather. Winds are a bit breezy out there with
gusts up to around 20-25 mph through the Wenatchee River Valley
and out over the Columbia Basin. Drier air moving in has also
stabilized the atmosphere with a quiet day across the Inland
Northwest. Skies will remain clear into tonight with winds
weakening. Sunday into Monday will be rather benign as well with
winds even weaker compared to today as we lose the cold air
advection that came with the cold front passage. We will see a
warming trend start up as a result with high temperatures getting
back up into the low 90s by Monday. Minor shortwave disturbances
will move through in the westerly flow, but much less moisture to
work with now that P-Wats are in the range of 0.50 to 0.70 inches
rather than the 1+ inches with our shower and thunderstorm pattern
of the previous few days. The northern portions of the forecast
area may see some passing high cirrus clouds at times with the
passing weak disturbances. /SVH

Tuesday through Saturday: Not a lot to change in the forecast from
last night. Strong ridging will impact the PacNW with
temperatures hovering in the upper 90s to low 100s for several
days. Just how long this heat stretch will last though remains
uncertain. Ensembles are split on whether or not a shortwave will
pass over the area Thursday or Friday which could cool
temperatures off slightly. For now, have continued to keep
temperatures on the warmer side. Winds appear on the lower side
throughout this period with no day standing out that could have
breezy conditions. This this week will also remain dry. /KM

06Z TAFs: VFR conditions under local wildfire smoke and some
occasional high clouds are expected to continue through the 24hr
TAF period. Winds to be generally light. /KD

The Blackburn Fire is located just north of the Heller Creek Campground near the headwaters of the St. Joe River. It was discovered on August 14. Several other fires were detected the same weekend, all from a single lightning storm days before. It has burned 360 acres of timber.
