An upper level ridge of high pressure built into the region on the 12th, and lingered over the area through the 13th, following widespread rainfall that fell over the region on the 10th. Increasing subsidence beneath the ridge yielded afternoon temperatures in the mid 90s across Southwest Arkansas, with very humid conditions prevalent, added by the increased evapotranspiration from the recent rains. Thus, oppressive heat was observed, with heat indices ranging from 105-110 degrees each day.
