.SYNOPSIS...
Very windy conditions with gradually diminish this evening. The
next few days will be dry with above normal temperatures.

&&

.SHORT TERM...Tonight through Thursday evening.

Vigorous upper closed low centered over southeast Idaho has
impacted northern and central Nevada this afternoon with wind.
Broken cloud layer covers northeast Nevada, but any showers
primparily limited to northern Elko County. Visual inspection at
the Elko office indicates virga shafts, possibly enhancing
gradient winds. Surface gradient weakens this evening, but
northwest gradient flow aloft with 30-40kt 700 MB winds continues
over eastern half of Elko County through tonight. Do not expect to
expand forecast zone coverage of the Wind Advisory.

Broad but flat ridge covers the region Tuesday and Wednesday,
with west northwest flow bringing warmer air. Slightly cooler than
normal Tuesday morning in the post frontal air mass. With more
sunshine, afternoon temps recover to the upper 50s and 60s, several
degrees warmer by Wednesday. Thursday, the next weather system
stays north of Nevada, but gradient flow increases for afternoon
breezes but remaining dry.

.LONG TERM...Thursday night into next Monday.

Model agreement has begun to come back into focus for the long
term period. Zonal flow still remain consistent, allowing for dry
and relatively warm conditions to continue for northern and
central Nevada Friday. However, models now have a better focus on
the trough set to brush by us Saturday. Current models now agree
that the trough wont dig to far south to bring any impact
precipitation wise. However, behind the weakened cold front
pressure gradients will tighten up allowing for some breezy
conditions Saturday afternoon. Beyond this passage, models once
again fall out of agreement with the GFS proposing more activity
and the ECMWF returning us to high pressure Sunday into Monday.
For now, guidance favors the later of the two options with no
foreseeable weather expected to start next week. Temperatures for
the time frame look to stay in the 60s to 70s before taking a very
minor drop behind the cold front Sunday and Monday. Meanwhile
overnight temperatures consistently stay in the 30s to mid-20s.

&&

.AVIATION...
Gusty winds in the 25-35KT range continue through 03Z, with peak
gusts around 40KT at KTPH. Winds gradually diminish between 03Z-
12Z tonight. Some erratic winds are expected in the vicinity of
showers or virga. Most showers stay north of I-80 and ending in
the 00-03Z time period. Local blowing dust is possible, but
prevailing VFR conditions are expected.
