Models are consistent with a warming trend next couple of days. No changes needed to forecast grids this afternoon. FGC Previous discussion: Upper ridge over the west will dominate the weather pattern for much of the week. This will result in more hot and dry weather for northeast Montana. Ridge will be building into the northern Rockies over the next few days pushing temperatures into the 90s for much of the region for Tuesday and Wednesday. A weak lee trof will keep winds fairly light, generally minimizing fire weather concerns through mid week. A shortwave dropping across western Canada on Wednesday will push a cold front south of the border. This will bring briefly cooler temperatures along with some thunderstorms for Thursday. Ridge rebounds to the west into the weekend even stronger. Thus far through the entire spring and early summer season, this area only experienced up to D1-Moderate drought, but by the third week of June, D2-Severe drought had spread through the Little Rocky Mountains, and remained there through the end of the month.
