Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Little Rock AR 247 PM CST Fri Jan 1 2021 .SHORT TERM...Tonight Through Sunday 20z surface observations across the forecast area indicate cloudy conditions, with a few sites reporting sprinkles. 20zs subjectuve surface analysis indicates a surface low across east central Missouri. This feature will continue away from the state late this afternoon and overnight. Conditions are somewhat favorable for fog development overnight across northern sections. Some of these sections will have temperatures below freezing overnight, therefore promoting a freezing fog situations. Near term forecasts will need to be monitored closely for any potential headlines. A weakening closed low will move southwest to northeast acorss the mid south on Saturday. Very limited moisture will be avaiable for this system. Lift does appear sufficient to produce sprinkles or flurries across many areas during mainly the afternoon hours on Saturday. && .LONG TERM...Sunday Night Through Friday A split, and somewhat progressive flow will prevail across the U.S. during this forecast period. One upper level system in this flow will affect the mid south during mid week. At this time, no wintry precipitation is expected with this system.
