.SHORT TERM...(Today through Saturday night)
Issued at 250 AM CDT Thu Jul 9 2020

Today-tonight:
MCS continue to race across forecast area at this time. Thinking
combo of outflow and clouds may cut into temperatures, especially
in southeast KS. Several models linger/develop precipitation on
back edge of MCS later this morning, while some fester or
redevelop storms this afternoon in southeast KS. The latter seems
more likely if MCV develops, but less likely if MCS remains
forward propagating. Temperatures in far west are considerably
less certain. Will continue to carry small pops in far southeast
KS late this afternoon mainly due to uncertainty.

Tonight:
Question tonight is whether storms develop as low level jet
overruns as outflow boundary, another MCS rolls in from the
northwest, or both. Have continue small pops through the evening
across the south for the former, but confidence is not
particularly high. Thinking better chance is later, but not
confident about coverage.

Friday-Friday night:
Appears to be second verse with questions about post MCS clouds
and the effect on afternoon temperatures. Went near median of
model spread for highs.

Saturday:
Temperatures should warm a bit on Saturday, with chance for
another nocturnal MCS Saturday night that would clip far northeast edge
of forecast area. -Howerton

.LONG TERM...(Sunday through Wednesday)

Appears that upper ridge will be the predominate player during
this period, with only small chances for nocturnal storms
potentially clipping parts of the area. Temperatures will likely
increase during this period. -Howerton

.AVIATION...(For the 06Z TAFS through 06Z Thursday night)
Issued at 1208 AM CDT Thu Jul 9 2020

A line of storms will race southeast across northern Kansas into
eastern Kansas overnight. This will cause outflow winds to surge
southward with gusty north winds. The storms will have the best
chance of affecting SLN and CNU sites. Meanwhile the winds will
gradually switch to the east then southeast behind the departing
storms Thursday morning. VFR conditions are expected in the wake
of the morning storms in southeast Kansas.

This hazardous weather outlook is for portions of Central Kansas,
South Central Kansas and Southeast Kansas.

.DAY ONE...Today and Tonight

Strong to severe thunderstorms will continue to move southeast
across the Flint Hills and into southeast Kansas early this morning.
The main threats are 50 to 60 mph winds and heavy rain that could
cause localized flooding.

There is a chance of storms redeveloping this afternoon or more
likely this evening roughly south of highway 400. If these storms
develop, some may be strong or severe. Storms are also possible
later tonight in central Kansas as storms move in from Nebraska.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Friday through Wednesday

Heat indices of 100 to 105 are possible Friday across south central
Kansas and 100 to 108 area wide on Saturday.  Similar values are
possible area wide on Monday and likely on Tuesday and Wednesday.

There are small chances of thunderstorms Monday night and Tuesday
night, mainly across central Kansas.

.SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...

There is a small chance that spotter activation might be required
south of highway 400 this afternoon.
