Widespread frost occurred over southern Illinois except the southern tip around Cairo. A strong high pressure system was centered over the Ozark Mountains early on the 9th, resulting in clear skies and chilly northwest winds. The winds were light enough for a brief period of frost in most places. Low temperatures were in the lower to mid 30's. The main impact of the frost was on horticulture and fruit crops.
