A strong cold front swept through eastern Washington during the afternoon of October 25th. Windy conditions developed along and behind this cold front. Generally winds of 15 to 25 mph were observed with gusts in the 30 to 40 mph range, however a few gusts in the 60 to 70 mph range were recorded in and near the Cascades, mostly at exposed high elevation automated weather stations. There were localized reports of tree damage in the Spokane area. Near the Cascades where terrain channeling may have promoted locally higher gusts tree damage was reported in the Leavenworth area where a tree fell on two homes and injured three people.
