The episode as NWS SHV wrote it up.
Severe drought (D2) conditions continued across portions of East Texas (including much of Upshur, Camp, and Southern Morris Counties) through much of October, as near record heat in the mid 90s persisted through the first full week of the month. Despite a series of cold fronts that moved through East Texas throughout the month, resulting in much cooler and less humid conditions, wetting rainfall across these drought stricken areas was limited and was not enough to improve the drought. Additional rains fell during the final week of October, which resulted in cumulative monthly totals of four to six inches, near to slightly above normal. This was enough to result in a one to two category drought improvement to moderate (D1) and abnormally dry (D0) across Upshur, Camp, and Southern Morris Counties to end the month as a period of below to much below normal temperatures set in for the first few weeks of November.
