Storms moved through southeast NE during the late morning hours. Wind gusted to 56 mph at the Beatrice airport. Then a couple of supercells developed behind the squall line through the mid afternoon also affecting southeast Nebraska.

Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Omaha/Valley NE 327 PM CDT Thu Aug 15 2019 .SHORT TERM...(Tonight through Sunday) Issued at 302 PM CDT Thu Aug 15 2019 MCS rolled through the area this morning bringing rain and cloudy conditions. On the back edge of that, we have seen additional strong thunderstorms this afternoon in southeast NE that have likely produced some hail. These storms should exit the forecast area within the next hour or two, meanwhile the remainder of the forecast area is experiencing a very nice afternoon. A stationary frontal/outflow boundary remains across northeast KS this afternoon. This boundary, with a strengthening low level jet should help fire additional thunderstorms through the evening across southeast NE, generally south of I80. The strongest storms are forecast to fire a little farther south across eastern KS, but we could still see a few storms in southeast NE that have wind and hail potential as the area remains in slight risk for severe storms. Additional locally heavy rain up to an inch will be possible in southeast NE tonight, but we should be able to handle that, but is something to monitor since some areas have already received 1-2 inches today. Meanwhile, there is a weak front moving into northeast NE this evening as well. There remains a slight chance of thunderstorms in that area for a few hours, but more widespread storms remain possible just north across eastern SD. In addition to the storm potential, with the recent rain, and winds becoming light overnight, there could be some patchy fog late tonight and early Friday morning. Some models suggest dense fog, so that is something we'll be watching. Friday should generally be dry, although a few showers or storms may hold together moving out of north central NE and could affect northeast NE during the morning. Otherwise a pretty nice day Friday with highs in the lower 80s. Another wave moving out of the Rockies Friday night could trigger additional thunderstorms, and especially near the KS/NE border where additional heavy rains could occur. Spotty precip chances could linger into Saturday south of I80. Highs Saturday in the lower to mid 80s. One more wave coming off the Rockies brings one more round of nighttime thunderstorm chances to the area Saturday night, with the bulk of the precip east of the area by Sunday. Highs Sunday still in the 80s, and could approach 90 in southeast NE. .LONG TERM...(Sunday night through Thursday) Issued at 302 PM CDT Thu Aug 15 2019 The bulk of the long term forecast will remain dry, although there are a couple of spotty precip chances in the forecast. Warmer with highs in the upper 80s and lower 90s Monday and Tuesday, and lower to mid 80s Wednesday and Thursday. && .AVIATION...(For the 18Z TAFS through 18Z Friday afternoon) Issued at 1241 PM CDT Thu Aug 15 2019 A line of thunderstorms is moving through the area. Rain will end shortly at LNK. OMA is observing light rain which should end by 20Z. There are a couple of forecast concerns for the rest of the TAF period. Overnight thunderstorms are a possibility in southeastern Nebraska. This has the potential to impact LNK and possibly OMA. Confidence in timing and coverage was not high enough to include in TAFs yet. Next issuance, location and timing should become clearer. After the potential thunderstorms, the next forecast concern is MVFR ceilings and fog from 06-12Z at LNK and OMA.
