What happened

The episode as NWS MPX wrote it up.

A strong Fall storm system developed during the morning of Sunday, October 20th in the northern Rockies, and slowly moved eastward, intensified, and drifted across Minnesota through the early morning of Tuesday, October 22nd. Initially, strong southeast winds developed, but as the system moved across Minnesota, colder air filtering southward, and an increased pressure gradient, allowed for winds to strengthen. Numerous airport, mesonet and private weather wind sensors measured wind speeds of 40 to 55 mph by Monday afternoon. The Alexandria airport measured a wind speed of 58 mph late Monday afternoon.
