In addition, gusty southeasterly winds ahead of the developing system led to drifting of an existing snow cover. As a result, scattered slick spots caused numerous traffic accidents...including one that killed a woman on I-155 in Logan County.

A 62 year-old woman was killed when her van skidded off I-155 into the median and rolled over several times. The woman was driving northbound on I-155 about 3 miles south of IL-136 when she lost control of her vehicle due to icy conditions. She was ejected from her van and pronounced dead at the scene.
