.SYNOPSIS...The low pressure system associated with recent shower
and thunderstorm activity will move offshore today and glide down
the California coast. This will make way for a ridging pattern to
set up, resulting in dry conditions, increasing sunshine and above-
average temperatures through mid-week.
&&

.DISCUSSION...Today through next Saturday.

As mentioned in a previous discussion, models show the low pressure
system associated with recent shower and thunderstorm activity
tracking farther south than originally anticipated. Through the day
today, the low pressure is expected to push off-shore before gliding
down the California coast and pushing back inland over the Baja and
south of Arizona. Due to its more southerly track, precipitation
chances through the weekend have decreased substantially. Slight
chances remaining in the forecast will be isolated to the far
southern zones of our CWA. Temperatures continue to slowly increase
with the pattern change. By the end of the weekend, afternoon highs
will be back within a couple degrees of the seasonal average.

The exit of this low pressure system will make way for a ridging
pattern to set up over our region Sunday through about mid-week. As
high pressure builds over the Desert Southwest, temperatures will
climb above-average, though not coming close to record-breaking
values. Dry conditions, increased cloud cover and above-average
temperatures will remain in the forecast through Wednesday before
deep troughing begins to push the high pressure southeastward out of
our region.

Low confidence in the forecast after Wednesday as models continue to
resolve moisture potential associated with a digging trough
extending from the Pacific Northwest as it approaches our region.
With this next system, temperatures are expected to drop back down
to seasonal averages to finish off the work week.

.AVIATION...For McCarran...Minimal impacts expected at the terminal
today. Light and variable winds this morning will generally shift to
the east-northeast direction but should stay below 10 kts. Scattered
CU at 10kft is expected this afternoon along with isolated shower
development but majority of this development should stay south of
the valley. Any approaches from the south may contend with this
isolated activity, but direct impacts to KLAS look unlikely today.

For the rest of southern Nevada, northwest Arizona and southeast
California...Valley sites will enjoy light winds and minimal impacts
today unless a rogue shower develops this afternoon, which isn't out
of the question. Otherwise, possible impacts at KDAG/KEED/KIFP this
afternoon as isolated showers are possible in the vicinity of each
terminal. Latest guidance bring development east of KIFP/KEED
resulting in outflow winds impacting the sites after 00Z today.
Included the wind shift in the TAF for both sites but confidence in
rain at the terminals themselves is low.

.SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...Spotters are encouraged to report
any significant weather or impacts according to standard operating
procedures.
