Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Elko NV 650 PM PST Sun Feb 11 2018 .SYNOPSIS...A winter weather system will bring needed moisture in the form of snow to the state beginning this evening. The main impacts will be across Lander, Eureka and Elko County through Monday. The system will be slow to exit and areas south of highway 50 could see snow showers through Tuesday night. Another system will begin to move into northern Nevada on Wednesday. && .UPDATE...based on model trends, radar, and satellite, decided to expand winter weather advs into northern and south-central Elko Counties. Isentropic/WAA has been more robust than expected with a trace to 3 inches of snow already accumulated across SE Humboldt County through western Elko County. This band continues to slowly organize and meander eastward with time. Radar imagery indicates multiple bands of moderate to heavy snow is embedded in a more general area of light snow. Snowfall rates of 1"+ per/hr will be possible in these bands and roads will worsen through the evening. The band of snow will be hard to push south this evening. Tds are exteremely low and it will take some time to saturate this evening. That would lower expected snowfall amounts. This will continued to be montiored. && .LKN WATCHES/WARNINGS/ADVISORIES...
