Deaths and injuries are direct and indirect together, as the offices filed them. Damage is property and crops in the dollars of the year, not adjusted for inflation, and only where an office estimated it.

.SHORT TERM...Tonight through Saturday night. Cold front sweeps
through East Idaho today, with breezy winds and slow increase in
precipitation behind it. Radar mosaic shows precipitation moving
into western portions of the state, shifting northeast. Models
have settled on precipitation slowly spreading across the state
late tonight through Friday, with best chances Friday afternoon
association with thunderstorm threat along shortwave axis being
ejected by the low. As upper low deepens and slides toward
northern California, precip focus for Saturday is expected to slip
north to central mountains and along the divide. Throughout the
short term period and excepting locally heavier convective
activity, precipitation amounts should remain light. DMH
.LONG TERM...Sunday through Friday. Models continue to hone in on
Monday and Tuesday being wet and cool. Prior to that, Sunday looks
less stormy and warmer. Showers and storms are still expected across
the central mountains and Upper Snake Highlands, but chances are
still dropping overall along with rainfall amounts. There are still
some differences to hash out (but not surprising that far out) with
respect to where some of higher amounts will fall Monday and
Tuesday. The general trend though was to pushing for higher chance
and higher amounts, with the current target of Monday-Tuesday
morning as being the highest. We are looking for SOME snow to
accumulate in the high country, mostly on highest peaks and ridges.
HOWEVER, snow levels drop to around 7000-7500ft in the Sawtooths
ramping up to 9000-9500ft along the Wyoming border Monday morning.
Later Monday and Monday night, they range between 7000-8500ft. By
then, most of the precipitation will fall mostly east of a Challis-
Montpelier line as the low pulls northeast into Montana.
Wednesday through Friday, a fresh ridge of high pressure looks to
build back in across SE Idaho from the west. The GFS was showing an
embedded wave producing a shower or t-storm over the central mtns
and Upper Snake Highlands Wednesday afternoon, but the EC was not
really showing this feature, & the GFS backed off on this
potential a bit with the 12Z run. Forecast still carries a very
low chance (about 20%) of a shower/storm over northern portions of
these mountains, but most of the region will be dry. Otherwise,
dry conditions continue everywhere through Friday under the ridge.
High temps warm several degrees each day, but are still somewhat
cool by Thurs with the Snake Plain only reaching the low 70s.

.AVIATION...
Wind has been the main aviation weather story today, affecting KPIH
which has been gusting to 30+ kts all day, and KIDA where winds are
on the increase and gusts to 25 kts are possible. Winds will drop
off this eve. Otherwise, just some sct high clouds expected with VFR
conditions at all terminals. Clouds increase and lower Fri as our
next low pressure system approaches the west coast, and a chance of
showers and t-storms returns to the forecast Fri afternoon just
beyond the end of the 18Z TAF period. -KSmith/DMH
&&
.HYDROLOGY...Rivers remain a significant concern across portions
of East Idaho due to continued snow melt at higher elevations. The
threat for precipitation through Sunday remains less of a concern
as strong upper low remains off Pacific coast. But, temperatures
remain warm so snow melt still continues. Have kept all prior
flood warnings out, with a refresh on wording to the broad areal
flood warning to include additional specifically named trouble
spots. With two additional gages on the Teton/Snake Rivers within
action stage but remaining below flood stage, opted for a broad
reach hydrologic statement to highlight swift/high flows on those
reaches. DMH
