&&

.SYNOPSIS...
Dry and warm conditions will continue through the weekend and
into next week as high pressure remains dominant over the area.

&&

DISCUSSION... Skies remain clear for another day as the region
remains dominated by a ridge of high pressure. The area of high
pressure is still situated to continue shifting eastward ahead of
a dry disturbance moving onshore during the weekend. Before the
disturbance arrives, warm southerly air will filter into the area
and allow for more heat as valley temperatures reach into the 100
degrees-F mark. In the meanwhile, surface pressure gradients from
KSFO to KLAS continues to relax as current values are now in the
6mb range. Therefore, locally gusty locations will see even less
winds in the next 24 hours.

Short range models showing high confidence in placing triple digit
temperatures across the San Joaquin Valley during the end of the
week period and into early next week. Model upper-air analysis
still showing the ridge axis starting to shift on to the the West
Coast today and shifting east on Sunday. Therefore, confidence is
high with having the heat turned-on by the end of the week and
into the weekend. With 500mb heights reaching 5900 plus over
California by the end of the week, will have no problem reaching
the 100 degrees-F mark at that time. Therefore, winds will not
become an issue as Central California focuses in on the brief
heat.

Models show another trof passage on Sunday across California.
Upper air analysis has the trof energy crossing the region on
Sunday, which will allow for the start of a cooling trend. While
Sunday will only feeling the start of the cooling, better cooling
will be felt next week after the trof passage. Yet, temperatures
will only lower to near normal conditions. Furthermore, models do
increase the surface pressure gradient for breezy conditions at
the start of next week. At this point, flow aloft is still too
westerly for any monsoonal moisture signals. Therefore, will keep
the district dry during the next seven days.
