Deaths and injuries are direct and indirect together, as the offices filed them. Damage is property and crops in the dollars of the year, not adjusted for inflation, and only where an office estimated it.
Isolated thunderstorms developed over the South Carolina foothills during the afternoon. A couple of the storms produced brief severe weather. During mid-to-late evening, an organized line of storms moved out of the mountains and across the western half of the Upstate. Although it was initially weakened, the line intensified in the lower Piedmont, and produced significant damage in Laurens County.
