Water vapor imagery shows upper level trough and short wave moving across the region. Expect scattered showers and thunderstorms this afternoon into early evening. Mainly over northeast Oregon. Partly cloudy skies overnight with lows in the 40s to lower 50s. For Wednesday and Thursday a dry westerly flow aloft with clear to partly cloudy skies. Temperatures will be warming with highs into the 80s. Another upper level low will be moving into the Pacific Northwest Friday. This system will bring increasing mid and high level clouds. Westerly winds will be increasing along with cooler temps. 94 .LONG TERM...Friday night through Monday...Friday an upper level low will approach the Vancouver Island...then drift east along the Washington-southern Canada border over the weekend. The broad pattern of a low and associated trough has been consistent...but details of waves rotating around the low vary run to run. The main lift with this system will remain north. Most of southeast Washington and eastern Oregon will probably remain dry Friday night and Saturday...though a few slopover showers may move over the Washington Cascades. Sunday the models have a deeper trough and another low moving down off the coast. This will support a better chance of convection...so a few thunderstorms are possible in the WA Cascades and central OR to northeast OR mountains. Details should become clearer in a few more runs.
