.DISCUSSION...
SHORT TERM (TONIGHT THROUGH FRIDAY NIGHT):
This afternoon, fairly shallow pool of moisture, loosely
associated with Hurricane Nicole, has spread SWWD into South
Florida, leading to an enhancement of showers over the region.
This will continue to impact the area into Thursday morning,
before drier air returns to the area. Synoptically, surface ridge
dominates the eastern seaboard and upper level ridge extends from
the Gulf into the Western Atlantic. This overall pattern will
through the short term, resulting in northeasterly winds,
generally seasonably warm temperatures, and relatively low rain
chances.
LONG TERM (SATURDAY THROUGH TUESDAY):
A shortwave trough will traverse the TN/OH Valleys into the Mid-
Atlantic over the weekend as the upper level ridge over us
flattens some. The surface ridge will weaken, allowing for winds
to decrease some and to turn more in an easterly direction.
Moisture will begin to be shunted southward down the peninsula as
the mid/upper level winds turn more northerly. There is relatively
low confidence in weekend rain chances as GFS suggest most
moisture will pool over the Keys, whereas the ECMWF suggest main
moisture may still reside over South Florida. For POPs, took the
middle ground with moderate shower chances, but kept higher QPF to
the south.
Early next week, deeper northwesterly flow will send drier
continental air into the region, reducing rain chances and
humidity. Temperatures into early next week will be near normal
for mid-October, with maxima mainly in mid 80s and minima in low
70s.

.MARINE...
Northeasterly winds just AOB 20 knots will prevail through the
remainder of the week. Hazardous seas /up to 10 feet in the Gulf
Stream off Palm Beach County/ will gradually subside but remain
above advisory levels through Thursday. Little pattern change/wind
shift is expected into early next week.

.AVIATION...
VFR flying conditions are expected to prevail through the TAF
period, outside of some brief MVFR ceilings this afternoon and
early evening. Have kept VCSH in the east coast TAFs through the
period for occasional light showers passing by. Northeast winds
will continue around 10-15 knots this afternoon with occasional
gusts to 20-25 knots. Winds will diminish to around 10 knots
overnight before increasing late in the period.

Persistent northeasterly flow warrants a high risk for rip
currents along Atlantic Beaches through Thursday night, and these
dangerous rip currents will likely persist into the weekend.
