What happened

The episode as NWS RLX wrote it up.

A band of snow fell on either side of the early morning commute to work and school across portions of western and central West Virginia. Accumulations were only 1 to 3 inches. Numerous accidents were reported, including on portions of Interstate 77 between Parkersburg and Ripley, and along Interstate 79 in Harrison County. A few counties closed school for the day.

Even in the aftermath, a school bus in northern Harrison County slid off Joetown Road near Wyatt. A coal truck may have been involved in the accident. The bus was returning children home from school that afternoon. The bus went down an embankment with its front end coming to rest in Bingamon Creek. All 27 students and the driver were not injured and escaped from the rear door.
