Below normal rainfall occurred over all of South Texas during the month of January. Rainfall amounts were 1 to 2 inches below normal over the region. With soil moisture lacking, severe drought conditions increased in coverage over portions of the Coastal Bend and Victoria Crossroads regions by the end of the month.
