A strong upper level disturbance and Arctic cold front moved through the area, bringing snow and much colder temperatures that persisted for several days. The heaviest snow fell over far northwestern into west central South Dakota, where four to nine inches of accumulation were reported.

The heaviest snow fell over far northwestern into west central South Dakota, where four to nine inches of accumulation were reported. Gusty north winds produced areas of blowing snow across the plains.
