.UPDATE...Cancelled warnings in central Idaho and kept the Lemhi
county Idaho and western Montana highlights going.

.DISCUSSION...Webcams and satellite imagery shows conditions
improving in central Idaho with the dry air moving into the area, so
cancelled the warnings with roads clearing off and snow slowing or
stopping. Kept highlights in Lemhi County because of blowing snow
on webcams and an area that appears active on satellite headed for
the area.
In western Montana, the southern Bitterroot and areas east of
Missoula are still snowing with reduced visibility and snow
covered roads, so will let the advisories continue.
Another round of snow is expected tonight, especially in central
Idaho, so will be considering advisories for tonight. If issued,
those will go out with the new forecast this afternoon.

Periods of snow will exist across the Northern Rockies during the
next 24 hours, impacting area air terminals. The most significant
impact to visibility and ceiling will be found at KMSO and KSMN,
however visibility and ceiling issues will also exist at times for
KBTM and KGPI. Terrain obscurations will continue today and
through the evening.

..Steady Snow Today for North Central Idaho into Western Montana...
DISCUSSION...A plume of moisture has moved into the region this
evening causing widespread snow through north central Idaho into
western Montana. The best snowfall is anticipated across Idaho
county into Lemhi county and southwest Montana. Several Winter
weather warnings and advisories have been issued for the affected
area. These headlines will go through this evening. The area will
experience a very short break from the snow overnight. A stream of
moisture over southern Idaho will move northward on Sunday which
will cause snow to increase in coverage and intensity. This
moisture feed will diminish Sunday night into Monday morning. Late
Monday into Monday night, the models are indicating a warm front
to swing through the region. This warm front will cause snow levels
to steadily rise, in many locations above the valley floors.
The precipitation is anticipated to switch over to rain sometime
between late Monday into Tuesday. Even though the precipitation
will be falling as rain the ground temperatures being well below
freezing, will potentially cause freezing rain on area roadways.
The moist air mass will continue to move through the region
Wednesday into Thursday causing widespread precipitation; snow in
the higher terrain and a wintry mix in most valleys. The models
are diverging on the extent of moisture making its way into the
Northern Rockies by the end of the week into next weekend.
For temperatures...Tonight the lack of cloud cover across
northwest Montana should allow temperatures to drop into the sub
zero range again. However, the increasingly warm westerly flow
will push temperatures to near normal readings early in the coming
week.
