A hot dome of high pressure that covered most of the eastern U.S. between July 16th and July 19th produced high temperatures in the upper 80s to lower 90s each day over all of southern Wisconsin, with widespread heat indices of 95 to 99. Locations in Milwaukee, Jefferson and Kenosha counties reached heat index values between 100 and 102. During this period, 5 deaths were being investigated as possibly being heat-related in Milwaukee County.
