One person passed away from heat related causes near Osseo (Trempealeau County) during a heat wave in the middle of July. The victim apparently fell outside a house on a day when full sunshine was occurring. The heat index at the nearest automated weather observing equipment at the Black River Falls airport (Jackson County) approached 100 in the afternoon. Air temperatures routinely topped out between 90 and 95 degrees with overnight lows of 70 to 75.
