ANALYSIS INDICATE AN UPPER LEVEL LOW ACROSS NORTHEAST MEXICO AND
THE WESTERN PORTIONS OF THE RIO GRANDE VALLEY THIS EVENING. RADAR
IMAGES FINALLY INDICATE RAIN DIMINISHING IN COVERAGE ACROSS THE
WESTERN PORTIONS OF THE CWA WHERE DOPPLER RADAR ESTIMATES AT LEAST
10 INCHES OF RAIN HAVE FALLEN ACROSS THE FALCON RESERVOIR.
HOWEVER...SHOWERS APPEAR TO BE REDEVELOPING ACROSS EXTREME
NORTHEAST MEXICO AS WELL AS OFFSHORE THE LOWER TEXAS COAST AND
ALONG THE MEXICAN COAST. THESE AREAS OF RAINFALL WILL LIKELY MOVE
NORTHWEST ACROSS THE RIO GRANDE VALLEY LATE TONIGHT. HAVE ADJUSTED
POPS SLIGHTLY HIGHER TONIGHT AND SUNDAY TO REFLECT THE TROPICAL

SOUTHWARD ACROSS THE COASTAL COUNTIES PRODUCED WIND GUSTS OF 35 TO
45KTS AS IT PASSED KHRL AND KBRO. DEEP MOISTURE AND IMPRESSIVE
INSTABILITY HAVE KEPT THUNDERSTORM INVIGORATED...BUT STORMS HAVE
NOT HAD QUITE THE HOLDING POWER DUE TO WEAK AND VARIABLE WINDS UP
TO 25000 FEET. THE OUTFLOW BOUNDARY HAS STABILIZED THE REGION IN

July would begin with all of coastal Cameron County in Severe (D2) Drought, but effects from rainfall on June 30th would kick in to the Drought Monitor by July 3rd, with several inches of rain in locations from Laguna Atascosa to South Padre Island resulting in drought conditions improving to Moderate (D1). These conditions would continue through month's end but deteriorate once again as little additional rain fell after the 1st.

Despite showers and thunderstorms at the end of June and infrequently along the sea breeze, Severe (D2) Drought continued west of Highway 77 and Moderate (D1) drought conditions persisted east of Highway 77. Across the far southern portion of the county, nearly 1.75 inches of rain fell, maintaining the Moderate (D1) drought conditions early in the month; little additional rain would expand the Severe Drought across the entire County by July 31st.

Despite spotty showers, little change occurred to drought conditions in Brooks County during July. during the first half of July across Brooks County. Severe (D2) Drought conditions persisted across all but the northern sliver of the County through the month; locations along State Highway 285 held in Extreme (D3) Drought.

Little change in drought conditions was observed across Jim Hogg County during July, despite significant rainfall of 4 to 6 inches across portions of rural western Jim Hogg County. The county remained split into thirds, with the southern third of the county in Moderate (D1) Drought, the middle third in Severe (D2) Drought, and the northern third of the county in Severe (D2) to Extreme (D3) Drought, including the city of Hebbronville.

Severe Drought (D2) conditions continued across the northern third of Zapata County. Moderate (D1) conditions continued across much of the remainder of the county, with a small area of D0 conditions pushing into the southern tip of the county. These conditions would improve after mid month rains, and the entire county would be removed from Severe or greater drought conditions, dropping to Abnormally Dry (D0) to Moderate for the last week of the month.

Moderate Drought (D1) prevailed over all but a couple of slivers of eastern Hidalgo County (Weslaco-Mercedes) and extreme northern portions through July 16th. Limited rainfall would see Severe (D2) Drought engulf the County by the middle of July. Despite spotty showers across Deep South Texas and the Rio Grande Valley, Hidalgo County did not see much, with the ASOS at McAllen Miller International Airport recording only 0.03 inches of rain during the first two weeks of the month.
