Colder air moving over the relatively warmer waters of Lake Ontario resulted in lake effect snow bands which impacted southern Herkimer County Tuesday evening, January 4th, into Wednesday morning, January 5th. The lake effect snow bands shifted to the south of Herkimer County Wednesday morning.

Colder air moving over the relatively warmer waters of Lake Ontario resulted in lake effect snow bands which impacted southern Herkimer County Tuesday evening, January 4th, into Wednesday morning, January 5th. The lake effect snow bands shifted to the south of Herkimer County Wednesday morning. The highest snowfall report received was from Poland with 7.8 inches, with other reports ranging from 3 to 5 inches.
