Heavy Snow in Maine, January 18 to 19, 2011
An area of low pressure formed off Cape Hatteras, NC on the morning of the 18th and intensified as it moved northeast to Nova Scotia by the morning of the 19th. The storm brought moderate to heavy snow to the area with the precipitation in southern and coastal areas changing to sleet and freezing rain.

An area of low pressure formed off Cape Hatteras, NC on the morning of the 18th and intensified as it moved northeast to Nova Scotia by the morning of the 19th. The storm brought moderate to heavy snow to the area with the precipitation in southern and coastal areas changing to sleet and freezing rain. Along the immediate coast, the precipitation changed to rain as temperatures warmed above freezing. Snowfall amounts across the area generally ranged from 4 to 8 inches, with lesser amounts near the coast.
