A large grass fire quickly spread and consumed about 100 acres of mostly rural areas just east of Galena near the Kansas and Missouri state line. A mobile home suffered minor damage and a shed was completely destroyed. Fire departments from Galena and Baxter Springs in Kansas and Carl Junction in Missouri responded to the fire.
