Thunderstorms developing ahead of an upper level short wave trough across eastern Montana, were expected to spread eastward into northwest and portions of central North Dakota during the afternoon and evening hours of Tuesday, July 20th. Severe Thunderstorm Watch number 503 was issued as a result.
Numerous severe thunderstorm warnings were issued. Several reports of large hail and three reports of funnel clouds were received during this episode.
