What happened

The episode as NWS BYZ wrote it up.

An upper trough brought a deep and moist southerly flow to the area. Synoptic lift and jet dynamics affected the western zones first. Temperatures were warm enough in the Beartooth Mountains to prevent significant accumulations but warning criteria was still met. Most of the system focused on the far east as a very narrow, stationary, mid level convergent area developed through the day and evening of the 9th.
