What happened

The episode as NWS MEG wrote it up.

Below normal rainfall continued during the month of October across the Missouri Bootheel. The lack of rainfall intensified severe (D2) drought conditions to extreme (D3) across the Missouri Bootheel. The biggest impact from the drought was on agriculture as many crops suffered due to the lack of rainfall. Many pastures were in poor condition forcing farmers to feed livestock with baled hay. Hydrological concerns continued as many lake and river levels dropped to low levels.
