Ongoing drought conditions continued into the month of October, according to the U.S. Drought Monitor. The area of extreme drought (D3) covered the following areas: southeastern Burnett County, Washburn County, Sawyer County, and southwestern Ashland County. Severe drought conditions (D2) continued over much of the rest of northwestern Wisconsin. However, the only the southeast corner of Douglas County and a western half of Bayfield County were in the severe drought area.
