A low pressure system moved northeast out of Southwest Missouri during the day on April 19, 2009. As the low moved northeast, the trailing cold front pushed through the Midsouth.

Scattered thunderstorms developed over North Mississippi during the afternoon hours ahead of the front. Some storms became severe and produced large hail and damaging winds.

Golf ball size hail fell in Waterford off of Highway 7.
Straight line winds knocked down several trees and power lines throughout the city of Bruce. Roof damage occurred as well.
Quarter size hail covered the ground 6 miles south of Tremont.
