Lake Charles American Press and Cameron Pilot newspapers reported lightning started a fire in the Management Unit 1 region of Sabine National Wildlife Refuge, located in the north-central portion of the refuge. The wildfire continued for nearly two weeks, burning around 4000 acres of marshland.

Beauregard Daily News newspaper reported several trees and power lines blown down across De Ridder. One building at the intersection of Wilson Street and West First Street suffered roof damage.
