North winds, between a departing low pressure system and an approaching high, brought arctic air across the much warmer waters of Lake Superior. The unstable conditions over the lake resulted in snow showers that reached parts of northern Wisconsin. Heavy lake-effect snow showers dropped more than 6 inches of snow in extreme northwest Vilas County. Ten inches of snow fell near Winchester and 8.1 inches fell near Presque Isle.
