During the afternoon of Sunday February 10, 2008 gusty winds of 45 to 55 mph combined with dry conditions resulting in over 300 wildfires burning over nine thousands acres in Central North Carolina. Nearly all counties in the area experienced minor widespread wind damage from falling trees which resulted in widespread power outages, blocked roads and damaged some vehicles.

BETWEEN 70 AND 100 KTS FROM SOUTH TO NORTH ACROSS CENTRAL NORTH

RUNNING IN THE MIDDLE 50S TO LOWER 60S. DESPITE WEAK COLD
ADVECTION BEHIND THE LEAD COLD FRONT LAST NIGHT. DEEP MIXING AND
DOWNSLOPE COMPRESSIONAL WARMING SHOULD BOOST TEMPERATURES TO
AROUND 60 DEGREES IN THE TRIAD TO NEAR 70 SE. SOME MOISTURE
ASSOCIATED WITH THE BROKEN STRATOCU AND ALTOCU WEST OF THE
MOUNTAINS MAY SPREAD ACROSS CENTRAL NC THIS AFTERNOON... BUT
EXPECT THAT DEEP DOWNSLOPE SHOULD DRY MUCH OF THIS MOISTURE OUT
EAST OF THE APPALACHIANS. ANY LINGERING MOISTURE COULD LEAD TO

RATIO IN THE LOWEST 250 TO 300 MB... PRODUCES DEWPOINTS IN THE 6 TO
12 DEGREE RANGE ONCE DEEP MIXING BECOMES ESTABLISHED THIS
