A low pressure system tracked east across northern New York State during Sunday December 7th, before merging with a stronger low pressure system over the Canadian Maritimes by early Monday morning December 8th.

A period of snow occurred with the low pressure system from late Saturday evening, and persisted into late Sunday morning. Then, in the wake of this low pressure system, localized lake enhanced snowbands produced additional snowfall late Sunday afternoon, into the early morning hours of Monday.

Total snowfall accumulations ranged from 4 to 9 inches from late Saturday, into Monday morning, with 3 to 6 inches falling with the initial system, and an additional 1 to 3 from lake effect snowbands later Sunday into early Monday.
