The winds increased during the early morning of September 1 and ended during the early afternoon as Gustav moved farther away. No damage was reported from the winds. Several mesonet sites had sustained winds of 20-30 MPH with higher gusts. Rainfall estimates across the area were 3-5 inches which resulted in some minor street flooding. Parts of southeast Mississippi were put under a tropical storm wind warning in the early morning hours of August 31 and the warning continued in effect until the late evening of September 1.
