Abundant insulation finally broke a strong capping inversion across portions of northern Louisiana and deep east Texas. A summer like airmass was in place with dewpoints nearing 70 degrees which resulted in moderate to high instability in place. A weak upper air disturbance moved eastward into the region from central Texas during the afternoon which provided the lift needed to produce strong to severe thunderstorms across the region. Large hail was the result across portions of east central Texas and northwest Louisiana.
