FOR THE REMAINDER OF THE NIGHT AS INSTABILITY HAS WEAKENED WITH THE

ADDED PATCHY FOG TO FORECAST MAINLY EAST OF A LINE FROM THE MISSOURI

RIDGE HAS TRANSLATED EAST A BIT FROM LAST EVENING. REGIONAL WSR-88D
RADAR SHOWS CONVECTIVE ACTIVITY PRIMARILY CONFINED ALONG SURFACE
BOUNDARY. SHORT TERM CONVECTIVE ANALYSIS YIELDS 1000 J/KG SURFACE
BASED CAPE...LI/S AROUND -4...AND PRECIPITABLE WATER VALUES AROUND 2
INCHES. LOCALIZED HEAVY RAINFALL APPEARS TO BE THE ONLY THREAT AT
BEST TONIGHT BUT WILL LEAVE MENTION OUT OF HWO AS CHANCES REMAIN

A severe drought(D2) continued at the beginning of July across portions of North Central Mississippi while an extreme drought(D3) occurred over Northeast Mississippi. By the end of the month, the drought had relaxed over North Central Mississippi to abnormally dry(D0) or moderate(D1). The drought also relaxed across Northeast Mississippi to severe(D2). Rainfall was about 3 inches above normal for the month reducing the yearly deficit to around 12 inches below normal. The drought continued to impact agricultural and hydrological interests of the area. Although burn bans were lifted due to the recent rainfall.
